TAF2+ consults with WTO members on planned support to the MSMEs work programme

TAF2+ organised an informal roundtable in the morning of 8 March 2019 in Room S2 of the WTO in Geneva, together with Ambassador José Luis Cancela of Uruguay, to deepen a dialogue on proposed TAF2+ support to the work of the MSMEs informal working group in the run-up to the 12th WTO Ministerial Conference. The meeting built on discussions in an earlier TAF2+ roundtable with developing country members of the informal working group organised on 18 January 2019.

The purpose of the event was to identify priority topics for analysis and evidence-gathering as part of planned TAF2+ assistance in 2019, and consider mechanisms to deepen effective, focused dialogue with MSMEs and business membership organisations. The roundtable provided the opportunity for the TAF2+ Fund Management Team to hear directly from countries where the demand lies and where there are capacity constraints to create a tailor-made support programme aimed at shedding light on the MSMEs agenda from the development perspective, and help WTO members formulate concrete proposals for advancing the participation of MSMEs in global trade.
