Delegates from the WTO’s Least Developed Countries (LDC) Group gathered for a two day retreat in Montreux, Switzerland on November 24th. The retreat was supported by TAF 2 + and organised with the LDC Group Coordinator, Cambodia. It aimed at preparing the Group’s position at the 11th WTO Ministerial Conference to be held in Buenos Aires, where issues of critical importance to LDCs will be on the table. The retreat allowed the Group to work on its draft declaration with the support of a highly experienced team provided under TAF 2 +’s support project to the Group.
LDC Group missions in Geneva often face important capacity constraints that prevents some of the world’s poorest countries from engaging meaningfully in negotiations shaping the multilateral trading system. TAF 2 + will continue to provide technical assistance to LDCs during the negotiations in Argentina.
